Project #8: Artificial Leaf for Spray Coverage detection

Back

Description:

New Zealand Wine just asked us about the possibility of an “artificial leaf” sensor that could be placed in the grape vines to assess spray coverage (so not looking at drift, but checking that the sprayer in the vineyard is correctly targeted and the right amount of spray is being applied to the leaves). So for that we would want something as thin and lightweight as possible (so it will not pull down the grape vines). We would want sensing elements on both sides of this “artificial leaf”. Real time sensing and data logging is necessary. GPS location is necessary to map the sensor. So it would probably look more like the prototypes from last year’s (2016) project.
