Project #9: Smart AGV for Manufacturing in the context of Industry 4.0

Back

Description:

Industry 4.0 is our fourth industrial revolution which is regarded as our future industry that highlights the automation and data exchange in manufacturing. Smart Factory, as one of the key concept in Industry 4.0, refers to a highly automatic and intelligent manufacturing environment equipping with advanced technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-physical Systems (CPS). This project mainly looks at the smart logistics within a smart factory by making full use of some cutting-edge technologies such as IoT, AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) and Cloud Manufacturing. Some educational robot kits will be provided for the interested students who can use simple graphical programming to control the robots. Students can have some experiences in factory setting, graphical programming, wireless communication, and arduino programming (C Language) after doing this project. Such experiences are very useful for current and future mechanical engineers in the context of Industry 4.0.
