Project #10: The effect of Plenum depth on the performance of a transpired solar collector

Back

Description:

Transpired solar collectors are use solar energy to pre-heat air in HVAC and drying applications. There are gaps in the understanding of the effect of the plenum on the heat transfer process. Experiments will be performed to determine the effect of plenum depth.

Type:

Undergraduate

Outcome:

Reproduction of Kutchers model. Experimental measurements of the change in the effectiveness of a collector due to the plenum. A test for optimal plenum depth.
