Project #50: A dynamic primary resonant converter for ultrasonic power transfer

Back

Description:

UPT (Ultrasonic Power Transfer) has been proposed as an alternative solution to achieving wireless/contactless power transfer. UPT has the ability to transfer power across metal barriers, along with many other unique features. This project is to develop a resonant power convert to drive the ultrasonic transducer at the primary side of an UPT system. The converter will need to be controlled dynamically to adapt to the coupling and loading variations of the system. The project involves the converter design, simulation study, and practical evaluation of the proposed power converter.

Type:

Undergraduate

Outcome:

A prototype power converter for driving the primary side of an ultrasonic power transfer system.

Prerequisites

At least one prospective student of the project group must be enrolled in the Power Electronics course (ELECTENG 734).
