Project #71: A design modelling method applied to design of a robotic manipulator

Back

Description:

A 2016 final year project assessed a design modelling method by developing a mechanical design for a robotic manipulator. While the project team members were creating the design, they concurrently applied the modelling method. Issues in the method were revealed, and improvements to it were suggested.

In this project you will continue the work. You will advance the design of the manipulator towards a functioning prototype. This will involve improving the existing design and adding new functionality. You will concurrently apply the (improved) modelling method to capture the information generated as you develop your enhanced design.

The main objective is to further develop the design modelling method. The manipulator design will provide a case study through which the improved modelling method will be assessed and further improvements may be proposed.
