Project #103: VR Camera Mount for a UAV to Improve Take-offs and Landings

Back

Description:

Working with Ariel Camera, a company that conducts aerial videography in Auckland, the aim of the project is to develop a mount for a virtual reality (VR) camera. The VR camera captures 360 degree footage and must be suspended at the end of a pole below a multirotor UAV to minimise the presence of the aircraft in the footage. A major challenge for operating such a system is performing take-offs and landings. Tests will span simulation and experimental testing of the developed system to assess the effect that the pole has on flight dynamics.
