Project #114: A Prototype to Enable Adaptive mHealth Interventions

Back

Description:

This project involves research and development in the area of mobile healthcare (mHealth). The National Institute for Health Innovations (NIHI) develops a number of mHealth interventions. They are keen to explore patient health information that could be utilised to inform the personalisation of mHealth interventions for patients and investigating new delivery systems and sensor/monitoring data that can be incorporated into the programmes to move from pre-programmed interventions to an adaptive one. The goal is to find out how to adapt mHealth programmes once started in order to be responsive to incoming data from sensors or changes in the care plan.

It will involve designing and developing a mobile app prototype with a focus on helping overcome Gambling addiction. As such the project is open to recommendations for technology implementation of these ideas. Domain based information will be provided by the NIHI representative(s).

Type:

Undergraduate

Outcome:

Research and development outcomes. For example, report on various technology and design options. A prototype that address the project goals by implementing the most optimal design and technology option identified. Results of small scale testing of the prototype would be useful.

Prerequisites

Advanced programming skills. Proactive attitude, ability to recommend technology options and readiness to test/discard/refine prototypes. Interest/experience with the medical/health domain and/or mobile applications development will be a plus but not necessary.
