Project #10: Energy Efficiency Improvement of a Heat Pump System with an Expander

Back

Description:

A conventional heat pump system typically does not use the available expansion energy since the traditional expansion devices (e.g. capillary tube or expansion valve) do not allow that. This energy can be tapped by installing an expander to increase the overall energy efficiency of such systems. In this project, an expander is to be designed and built. It is then to be tested and experimented with the existing heat pump system in the Thermofluids Lab.
