Project #12: Characterization of Electroosmotic Pressure in Closed-End Microchannels

Back

Description:

Electrolyte flows in a microchannel when an electrical potential difference is applied across the ends. This phenomenon is known as electroosmotic effect. When the ends of the microchannels are closed, the effect causes a pressure build-up, which can be exploited for various applications. This unique phenomenon is to be studied in this project. An experimental setup is to be built and used for testings. Micro-fabrication techniques may need to be employed. Data are to be collected and analysed.
