Description:

You will use an array of ultrasonic speakers to levitate and manipulate small objects (we have levitated 5mm diameter polystyrene balls). You will adjust the phase and amplitude of the sound produced by each speaker to achieve this levitation/manipulation. The project will involve experiments where you actually levitate objects as well as COMSOL simulations of the phenomenon.
