Project #26: Hospital acoustics

Back

Description:

In this project you will conduct measurements and numerical simulations of the noise within a hospital ward. The measurements will be undertaken at the North Shore hospital and will require you to develop simple codes to automatically analyse the noise data based on observations of noise sources made during the measurements. The idea will be to process the data so that noise from different sources (patients, staff and machines) can be identified and quantified. Your analysis will quantify noise levels and sources of this noise.

You will also conduct numerical simulations of the acoustics within the ward using the freeware code I-Simpa.

This project will appeal to students interested in pursuing a career as an Acoustical Engineer.
