Project #59: Implementation and Testing of a Remote Teaching Laboratory for VEX Robots

Back

Description:

It is proposed to use a remote teaching lab for MECHENG 201 where students log into a remote computer, upload their code, and control the VEX robot wirelessly over the network. This project builds on the progress done in 2017 where wireless download of compiled code was implemented successfully to ensure that we offer the students a reliable and fair user experience that complements their learning. There are many interesting aspects of the project that need development and/or refinement (e.g. vision tracking of multiple robots simultaneously, position control, obstacle avoidance, etc.). The intent is to test this concept on a live course (e.g. MECHENG 201). This project is suitable for mechatronics students only. If you are interested in this project, please email me (h.namik@auckland.ac.nz) to setup a time to discuss.
