Project #75: Multilayer part produced through rotational moulding

Back

Description:

Rotational moulding is used for the production of hollow plastic articles with a wide range of sizes, shapes, and thicknesses. Multilayers of different composition and thickness can be produced through this process. Three-layer rotomoulded parts with different characteristics will be the focus of this project; the part will consist of a particle or fibre-reinforced PEĀ outer layer, foamed PE middle layer and PE in the inner layer. All the blends will be prepared by dry blending and the parts obtained by rotational moulding. A complete morphological characterization of the rotomoulded part will be undertaken and the results will be correlated with part density and impact strength.
