Project #88: Human activity recognition using wearable sensors

Back

Description:

The advancement of embedded and sensing technologies has led to the blooming for intelligent and wearable devices. With the presence of different wearable sensors, it is now possible to identify physical motions of a user. This project aims to investigate the feasibility of different types of wearable sensors in detecting human motions, and develop algorithms to recognise human activities as a sequence of human motions. Familiarity with different programming languages, specifically Python, C and C++ is desirable.

Type:

Undergraduate

Outcome:

1. Investigate different types of sensors for monitoring and measuring human movement.
2. Investigate and examine movement sensing performance for different types of sensors at different locations on human body.
3. Develop software algorithm(s) for capturing human movement
4. Based on human movements, identifying human activities as a sequence of physical motions/movements.
