Project #102: Battery less controller for lighting systems

Back

Description:

Most wireless controllers require energy source to operate. In this project we will design a wireless lighting controller (and a receiver) offering switching ON/OFF functionality and possibly dimming.

Type:

Undergraduate

Outcome:

This is a research project, so the outcome is not determined yet. However the project will need to have following phases:
1. We need to design a mechanical-electronic switch, which will convert the mechanical energy produced during the switching process into a wireless signal. This component will have no battery.
2. We will need to build a receiver (powered), which receives the signals from the switch, and switches lights ON/OFF.
3. We will introduce so logic into the receiver. For example we need to determine how the dimming process will be implemented. That will probably requires a micro-controller.

A working prototype is expected.
