Project #61: Fundamental study of the effect of metal objects on electric field distribution of CPT systems

Back

Description:

CPT (Capacitive Power Transfer) has been proposed as an alternative technology for transferring power wirelessly. This project is to investigate how the metal objects in-between or around transmitter/receiver plates will affect the electric field distribution. Selected project students will work closely with PhD candidates in the field to learn basic CPT design, and to conduct detailed simulation studies, as well as practical system building and testing for verifications.

Type:

Undergraduate

Outcome:

·       Simulation results to show the e-field distribution in CPT setups.

·       Experimental verification.

Prerequisites

Prospective students of the project should have a good background and understanding of electromagnetics, and at least one of the two students should take Power Electronics course.
