Project #77: Natural Language Processing (NLP) of formal documents into structured markup

Back

Description:

In many disciplines there are hundreds of documents written in natural language which specify what is allowed to be undertaken. Without conversion into a structured electronic form it is not easy for computer systems to support the requirements of that discipline. In this project the 600 codes and standards which are required to check that a building meets NZ regulations are the starting point for processing into the LegalDocML markup language. Different NLP approaches will need to be examined to determine the most effective approach to process these documents and to determine the accuracy of the resultant translations.
