Project #108: Multi-user VR-based disaster preparedness environment

Back

Description:

The project will create a multi-user VR environment for earthquake disaster preparedness. Current VR-based training environments allow a single participant to be trained in disaster preparedness. However, for realistic training you would want to train with other members of your class or office, as well as with NPC (non-player characters) who would create particular scenarios to respond to. We have an existing earthquake training system developed in Unity and experienced with an Oculus VR headset. We wish to extend this system to allow for many participants to be present within the same training environment and to be able to interact with each other as they progress through their training session. There will be a significant Human-Computer Interaction component to the project to design the possible interactions between participants and to test the usability of the designed solution with a class of students.
