The use of electric fences is common place in NZ. One of the issues faced is that segments of the fence experience faults leading to the a collapse of the fence voltage. This project has been proposed by a farmer who would like to explore a technological solution that identifies and localizes the fault. It would be preferable if some predictions are possible to help plan preventive maintainance.
The project will involve identifying and developing a cost-effective solution to measure fence voltage and have continuous predictions of the state of the electric fence. Some typical faults have been identified and it is expected that the project will address some or most of these.
