Description:

This highly practical project will use digital imaging to understand how to design carbon fibre ties for seismic strengthening of concrete buildings. This project is part of a larger research effort consisting of several postgraduate students and undergraduate students working together as a team to solve one of the biggest issues in current structural engineering, both in New Zealand and overseas - existing buildings with deficient diaphragms. The students will have the opportunity to interact and learn from very experienced and reputabled engineers, as well as the research team. If you want to become a structural engineer, this project is for you!
