Project #21: Preparation of bacteria into a non-soluble immobilized matrix

Back

Description:

Brief: Vertus is exploring a new type of reactor design to generate energy from waste material. This will involved immobilizing their proprietry pressure-selected consortium in a suitable matrix for application in their reactor. This project will explore the potential to generate such an immobilized matrix ensuring the viability of the bacteria and to allow easy application into the reactor.

Scope: This project will potentially involve spray drying experiments and the design of suitable spray drying matrixes. The project will involve testing the developed matrix in Vertus’s properitary reactor and maintaining the required microbial culture for the tests.

Resources: Spray drying and product formulation facitilies are available in the University of Auckland. Vertus will be providing the test reactor and any associated ancillaries to test and characterize the immobilized bacteria medium
