Project #3: How Can We Use Board Games to Teach Robot Ethics?

Back

Description:

Ethics is becoming increasingly important in society. But despite its importance, it can be a complex subject to teach. Students often have preconceived ideas and are not aware of the consequences of these views. Board games offer a fun, low-risk way to explore the consequences of our actions, they allow the players explore other viewpoints and see the results of their choices.

This project will look at extending and evaluating a board game for teaching ethics in a robo-ethics course at the university. We currently have two versions of a boardgame to encourage ethical discussions about robotics. You can choose the aspects of ethics you are interested in and extend the games to include them. Alternatively, the previous projects have suggested some new directions for future versions of the game that you could implement.

This project builds on a previous iteration of this from last year. It is a collaboration with the School of Design in CAI.
