Project #43: Satellite mission and hardware design for upper atmosphere sampling

Back

Description:

TPA-SI are developing a new generation of nanosatellite platforms. There is an intention to develop in house CubeSat platform systems to be mounted to the external spacecraft structural walls to maximise payload volume. Moreover, a mission concept is in development for direct measurement of the lower thermosphere and upper mesosphere using aerodynamically stabilised “dart” satellites. These darts would b folded flat for deployment of a cluster of satellites which would deploy to their operational configuration. Such dart satellites could sample various atmospheric parameters, with an initial conceptual focus on Atomic Oxygen. There is therefore an opportunity to develop low profile avionics to address both needs, as well as the mechanical design of the darts and develop mission profile and science goals.
