This project invites you to design and develop a prototype for a Smart Factory Metaverse, bridging the gap between the virtual and physical worlds.

Objective

The primary goal of this project is to conceptualize, design, and develop a prototype of a smart factory within the metaverse. This prototype will showcase how advanced digital technologies can simulate factory processes, evaluate production scenarios, and control factory operations in an immersive environment.

In this project you will:

• Explore the state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms used in smart factory control (with the support of a PhD student)
• Design a 3D immersive smart factory (using Unity?)
• Simulate factory operations to visualize and analyze smart factory control algorithms
• And even control the factory with natural voice communication technologies (ChatGPT?).

The factory to be modelled in the metaverse will be inspired by the human-machine-robot setup in the Laboratory for Industry 4.0 Smart Manufacturing Systems.

About you

This project will be suitable for ambitious students with sound logical thinking skills, a passion for programming, and perhaps an interest or experience in game development.
