Project #101: [Industry Sponsored] BreathSonix: Respiratory Sound Analysis

Back

Description:

Are you passionate about healthcare technology and interested in exploring the hidden symphony of breathing? "BreathSonix: Respiratory Sound Analysis", a project sponsored by Fisher and Paykel Healthcare, offers an exciting opportunity to delve into the world of medical innovation. BreathSonix focuses on the development of a non-invasive method for monitoring respiratory health and breathing metrics by analysing respiratory sounds. Utilizing acoustic analysis techniques and artificial intelligence, BreathSonix is set to provide new techniques for monitoring patient respiration.

You will be involved in developing a sophisticated method for capturing and analysing respiratory sounds. This is a chance to apply your academic knowledge to a real-world challenge. You will engage in research, exploring how breathing patterns, respiratory rates and other useful metrics can be extracted from the breathing sounds while the patient is on nasal high flow therapy. Gaining hands-on experience in equipment selection, data collection, data processing, machine learning and the fascinating process of acoustic analysis, all while contributing to a project with potential real-world impact in the field of medical technology. The ideal outcome of the project would be a model that is able to detect multiple respiratory metrics with high accuracy in healthy human subjects.

Joining BreathSonix means enhancing your technical, analytical, collaborative, and problem-solving skills. You will be forming every stage of the project, from the initial concept, designs, methods and analysis. You will have access to an advisory/support team from Fisher & Paykel Healthcare as well as labs, lung simulators and workshops.
