Project #121: The confluence and navigation of disconnected repositories of building information

Back

Description:

There are many sources of information that you might want to access when looking at a piece of land you could build on. The council holds information on the land and its allowable use, they also can provide information on the neighbouring properties and their owners, LINZ hold information on the actual boundaries, Google and others have photographic views of the land, MBIE has the codes that pertain to that type of land, Waka Kotahi on the roading network and connections to the area, etc, etc. Being able to ask questions about a piece of land and get accurate answers and visuals of the land and its surrounds would be useful for anyone wishing to purchase some land. This project will investigate how to provision textual and graphical information based on a user’s natural language queries.

Type:

Undergraduate

Outcome:

You will develop a UI supported by NLP (Natural Language Processing) that allows a user to specify the information they are interested in for a piece of land. The query will be propagated out to appropriate sources for the information they request, and retrieved data will be displayed in an appropriate context for them to consume.
